Job description
The supply chain of PVH Europe is embarking on an ambitious and challenging journey of transformation to become future-proof: digitalized, automated, and data-driven. The Data Scientist will join the efforts of the Supply Chain Data Science and Analytics team in helping make this transformation a reality.
The position
The focus will be on supply chain operational processes with the key responsibility of fast-forwarding the current supply chain structure leveraging big data & analytics. The Data Scientist will join a team developing algorithms to solve specific optimization problems (e.g., containers fill-rate optimization and prioritization, stock slotting optimization) and building predictive models (e.g., vessels arrival time prediction, customers estimated delivery date prediction). The Data Scientist will also support the team in maintaining and developing automated routines to granularly digitalize the operational day-by-day of the supply chain central operations teams.
The Data Scientist will tackle a variety of problems, some of them for the first time ever in the organization, extract data-driven business insights, and develop automated solutions and machine-learning models bringing supply chain to the next level. To achieve these objectives, the Data Scientist will work in a team that is fully integrated and in continuous collaboration with its business stakeholders: Inbound Logistics, Distribution Center, Order-Fulfilment, Operations and Planning teams. The Data Scientist needs, therefore, not only to be able to translate complex mathematical concepts into clearly understandable information for a wide audience, but also to be comfortable in an environment that highly value human contact and close team collaboration.
The supply chain of PVH Europe is laying the ground for an exciting road of digital growth and transformation and the Supply Chain Data Science and Analytics team is looking forward to embed a candidate sharing the team passion for data, mathematics, machine learning, and the delivery of business-impactful data-driven solutions., * Build optimization and machine-learning models to predict decisive information for supply chain business operations, and maintain the end-to-end computational structure around them to support daily operations.
- Perform analyses of large amount of data related to supply chain processes to extract business insight.
- Develop mathematical models describing the empirical supply chain processes.
- Maintain and develop ETL routines to increasingly digitalize supply chain operations.
- Contribute to the problem-solving process and support business stakeholders finding the right analytical solution.
- Communicate with business stakeholders in a clear, understandable, and actionable way even the more complex mathematical concepts.
Requirements
- Master degree in natural sciences (e.g., mathematics, physics), engineering disciplines (e.g., computer engineering) or econometrics.
- At least 2-3 years' experience working as data scientist, or, and a Ph.D. in one of the aforementioned disciplines.
- Advanced knowledge of statistics and mathematics.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience with programming languages, particularly Python.
- Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and related programing packages (e.g., scikit-learn).
- Knowledge of supply chain processes will be given preference.
- Knowledge in cloud computing, BI visualization tools (e.g., Tableau), Excel, and Power Point is desirable.
- Good project management and planning capacities, and is reliable, and looking for ownership.
- A pro-active attitude and is eager to develop in a fast-paced environment and young team.
- Excellent communication skills and can translate complex information into clear insights and comfortable presenting in front of senior leadership audiences.
