Job description

Job Overview

To operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions. Some of these duties will include heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems.

You regularly help inspect, maintain and repair various infrastructure systems such as piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical system components.

You provide daily assistances as you read blueprints/schematics, conduct tours of systems and assess their working order.

Main Duties

  • Maintenance (Preventive, Corrective, Predictive) of infrastructure Equipment and Systems
  • Troubleshooting of infrastructure Equipment and Systems
  • Emergency Repairs of Equipment and Systems
  • Rounds and Inspections for infrastructure Equipment and Systems
  • Analysis and Action Plan Development for improvement of infrastructure Equipment and Systems
  • Development and/or Adoption of Maintenance and Operations Procedures
  • Commissioning of infrastructure Equipment and Benchmarking
  • Installation of New infrastructure Equipment
  • Decommissioning of Retired infrastructure Equipment
  • Power and Bonding of Server Racks
  • Response to Emergency Events
  • Cleaning of Facility Equipment
  • Preparation of Heavy-Duty Equipment for Transportation or Installation
  • Chemical Handling
  • Maintenance Planning
  • Updates to Maintenance Documentation
  • General Facility Housekeeping
  • Tool Calibration & test equipment calibration
  • Support work notification activities and/or Construction Projects Team Process
  • Continuous Improvement Plans for Services Provided
  • Ensuring Environmental and Regulatory Compliance & Reporting
  • Vendor Management
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting

What we are looking for

  • Previous experience working in data centre and/or critical environments (min 2 years)
  • Technically focused, fault diagnostic skills and organised
  • Computer literacy, written, good oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload within tight deadlines and to a high standard
  • Adjust rapidly and effectively to changes in work demands or business needs
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of management
  • Knowledge of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting utilizing standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to communicate with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the infrastructure
  • Awareness of working in a safe manner with regard to safety of others
  • Qualification in building services mechanical and electrical engineering to a minimum of City & Guilds 18th Edition Institute of Electrical Engineers registration
  • A good working knowledge of building services trades - UPS, Diesel Generators, Plumbing, HVAC systems and Refrigeration
  • Computer literate with good I.T. skills
  • Knowledge and awareness of CAFM systems and their use
