Job description

Solid experience in core computer science courses (programming, algorithms, databases, software engineering, systems, networks, etc.), with a beneficial interest on Artificial Intelligence topics (Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Semantic Web, etc.) is expected.

The successful candidate will play a central role in bridging technical skills with critical reflection on uses, social impacts, and ethical issues and will strengthen the conception and management of innovative training programs in collaboration with professional partners and in coordination with other departments of UFR SHS as well as other faculties of the institution.

The successful candidate will also assume significant management responsibilities at various levels: Bachelor's, Master's, MIASHS department.

Research project and scientific impact:

The Grenoble Computer Science Laboratory (LIG - UMR 5217 ZRR) is seeking outstanding candidates to strengthen its research in the modeling, simulation, perception, analysis, and prediction of human behavior. The goal is to be able to analyze, or even predict, behaviors or uses, potentially in real time and at different scales (individual or collective) in various contexts (e.g., to assist in crisis management, human/robot collaboration, AI-based learning, etc.).

Applicants may conduct their research in one or more of the following areas:

  • Modeling, simulation, or prediction of human behavior,
  • Multimodal perception,
  • Data analysis/processing at different scales, possibly in real time,
  • Knowledge model, explainability,
  • Human/Robot Collaboration,
  • Agentic AI, For maître de conférences (MCF) positions, applicants must hold a PhD or higher.

Additional requirements:

  • Applicants must have obtained a MCF qualification CNU specific to their scientific discipline.
  • Applicants who have not obtained a MCF qualification CNU must provide proof that they have held a comparable position (ie., teaching, research, administrative duties, etc.) in a foreign higher education institution in the 18 months prior to their application. They must provide an official proof, such as a contract, or a certificate from their employer indicating position and contract dates. Université Grenoble Alpes will assess the comparability of their duties with that of a maître de conférences.

The successful candidate will join the MIASHS department of UFR SHS and teach Computer Sciences at all levels: both the Bachelor's degree in MIASHS and MIASHS Master's degree pluridisciplinary training programs., The successful candidate will join one of LIG's teams in one of the following areas: CIS or SIDCH. They must have a high-level research activity and be able to develop international collaborations in the long term.
