Job description
Excellent research needs state-of-the-art IT infrastructure and innovative digital services. With a team of about 50 experts, we will redesign the Institute's digital landscape over the next few years and implement an ambitious digital transformation programme to facilitate the Institute's rapid growth. The programme consists of a series of complex, large-scale projects that are managed by full-time project managers. As part of our commitment to professional IT management practices, we are establishing a dedicated IT Project Management team. As part of our IT & Digital Transformation Division, you establish and lead an IT Project Management team responsible for implementing IT-related projects that will change the Institute's IT infrastructure, digital workplace and digital services, the digital administration, will drive automation and AI usage, and will change the way IT and digital services are governed and managed. Your activities include:
- Building, leading, mentoring, and supporting the IT Project Management team
- Coordinating and prioritising projects and daily operations of the IT Project Management team
- Further developing project management practices
- Offering advice and quality assurance to IT project managers
- Coordinating project management in conjunction with the introduction of IT service management practices based on ITIL together with the teams of the IT & Digital Transformation Division
- Managing key stakeholders and communicating with internal and external project partners
- Managing selected IT-related projects
- Fostering a positive team environment, a culture of innovation and driving continuous improvement
Requirements
Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Proven track record in project or programme management (preferably 5+ years), ideally experience with large-scale transformation and change initiatives
- Experience in both classic (waterfall) and agile project management
- Several years of experience in academia, research or a similarly complex knowledge organisation
- Experience in building teams or in lateral leadership, especially of project managers
- Experience in various types of projects, e.g., infrastructure-related projects, cloud-migration projects, process redesign initiatives, software development projects, etc.
- Hands-on mindset with strong analytical skills, translating strategic concepts into actionable implementation plans, and ensuring operational execution
- University degree in computer science, business informatics or a similar field
- Working language is English, intermediate German skills (level B1 and above) are required
