Job description
We are looking for an IT Support & Operations Specialist to provide first-line IT support, device setup, and systems support across our offices while also assisting with the operational setup of workspaces and equipment. The role ensures staff have the technology, systems, and working environments they need to operate effectively.
This is a hands-on role supporting both IT systems and office operations across multiple sites.
The Role
This role combines IT support with practical operational coordination.
You will help maintain the technology used across the business, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, assist with system access and equipment setup, and support the physical setup and organisation of our offices.
You will work closely with the Head of Operations and external IT providers to ensure our systems and office environments remain reliable and efficient.
This role is ideal for someone with IT support experience who enjoys a hands-on environment and taking ownership of technology across multiple office locations.
The role involves occasional travel between our West Midlands office locations when required.
Role split:
- 50% Technology & Systems Support
- 50% Operational & Office Support
Technology Environment
You will be supporting and working with systems including:
- Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)
- Windows laptops and desktop computers
- Mobile devices
- VoIP phone systems
- Printers and office peripherals
- Basic networking equipment and cabling
Key Responsibilities
Technology & Systems Support
Provide first-line IT support across the business for common technology issues including:
- Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)
- Laptop and desktop setup and configuration
- Mobile device setup and configuration
- User account setup and permissions
- Basic troubleshooting for hardware and software issues
Assist with the setup and maintenance of:
- Laptops and desktop computers
- Office phone and VoIP systems
- Printers and office peripherals
- Networking equipment and cabling where required
Support the onboarding and offboarding of employees from a technology perspective, including:
- Device setup
- Email accounts
- System access
- Software permissions
Maintain an IT asset register for company equipment including devices, licences, and allocations.
Liaise with external IT providers and software vendors when technical issues require escalation.
Support the rollout of new systems, software updates, and internal technology improvements.
Office & Operational Support
Help maintain the operational setup of offices across the group, including:
- Workstation setup and desk moves
- Office equipment organisation
- Basic cabling and workstation setup
- Supporting office reconfigurations when required
Assist with practical operational tasks such as:
- Setting up desks and equipment for new starters
- Supporting staff inductions from a systems perspective
- Maintaining internal documentation and guides within Trainual
- Assisting with operational projects led by the Head of Operations
Provide occasional support with internal logistics between offices, including moving equipment or materials between locations.
Multi-Site Support
Travel between office locations when required to:
- Resolve technology issues
- Set up equipment and workstations
- Support office setup or operational changes
- Ensure systems and equipment are functioning correctly
Ensure technology or operational issues do not disrupt day-to-day business activities.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driving License license?, Do you have experience in Assistive technologies?, The ideal candidate will have experience in areas such as:
- IT support or IT support technician roles
- Technology support within a business environment
- Office systems or operational support
Working knowledge of:
- Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)
- Device setup and configuration
- Basic hardware troubleshooting
- Supporting non-technical users with systems and technology
What We're Looking For
This role suits someone who enjoys solving practical problems and taking ownership of issues, rather than simply escalating them.
You should be comfortable with hands-on tasks such as setting up workstations, moving equipment, basic cabling, and preparing office spaces for new staff.
Because the role supports multiple office locations, flexibility to travel between sites and respond to operational or technology issues is essential.
You should also be:
- Organised and reliable
- Practical and hands-on
- Comfortable solving problems independently
- Able to communicate clearly with non-technical colleagues
- Willing to assist with both technical and operational tasks
