Job description
The Environment Professional is responsible for the effective upkeep and maintenance of the Environment & Models they are accountable for within Gemini. The Environment Professional will be required to build relationships and work cross team to ensure physical model builds are provided and supported at an optimum level, whilst ensuring working standards and best practice are adhered to and maintained. Responsible for driving own technical development and supporting Gemini Evolution strategy and business goals., * In depth environment knowledge for new build GRT's (CC, 21C/Ethernet, Voice, Global Reach, Connectivity)
- Ensures customers are kept informed throughout the lifecycle of any build work undertaken.
- Services new build GRT's across allocated primary and secondary platforms with support from others when required.
- GRT SLA breach management - monitors and manages GRT queue to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Carries out all build work to the agreed standards outlined by GemEvo.
- Proficient in the use of tools and systems used to carry out new build GRT's, including Velocity for commissioning network topologies and Blueprints for managing equipment inventory.
- Proposes and implements ways to improve environment build processes within Gemini Evolution.
- Accountable for new solutions and recommendations to facilitate Gemini lab consolidation program and new model planning.
- Responsible for providing support for all environmental alarms, seeing issues through to resolution and communicating updates and outcomes.
- Collates network and environment monitoring data to achieve rapid response to faults and identify trends.
- Ensures all scheduled maintenance routines on model equipment, e.g. filter cleaning/replacements are completed as per vendor specifications.
- Manages local stores items including spares and consumables and places Purchase Orders using Ariba/Candex when required.
Requirements
- Engineering experience in Physical Network infrastructure labs / Datacentre / model environments.
- Proven experience of working successfully as part of a team and as an individual.
- Experience of troubleshooting physical issues.
- Effective stakeholder management.
NICE TO HAVE
- Certified technical knowledge of IP networks and infrastructure.
- Understanding of IP Network Engineering infrastructure, technologies and protocols e.g. BGP, OSPF, NG-WDM
- Ability to coach and mentor others
