Job description

We're looking for a Modelling and Data Assurance Manager to join our Internal Audit team! Reporting into our Group Head of Internal Audit, the Modelling and Data Assurance Manager is a senior specialist and people leader within Group Internal Audit (GIA), responsible for leading data-driven assurance across analytics, automation, artificial intelligence (AI) and model risk. In this role you'll act as a subject matter expert for model validation and credit risk assurance and play a key leadership role in advancing data-led audit practices across the Three Lines of Defence (3LoD). You'll design and implement GIA's data analytics, automation and AI assurance strategy, ensuring a robust, risk-based approach to audit planning and delivery. You will also oversee delivery of multiple complex audit reviews, provide quality assurance, and support strategic data and AI assurance initiatives that drive functional improvement. As a people manager, you'll be accountable for developing capability within the team, particularly in data and analytics skills, and for effective deployment and motivation of resources. You'll require strong stakeholder engagement, providing insight and foresight to Executives, Directors and selected Non-Executive Directors, and partnering closely with Credit Risk, Data and Digital Operations leadership. What will you do as a Modelling and Data Assurance Manager at N Brown?

  • Design and implement GIA's data analytics, automation and AI assurance strategy, aligned to a risk-based audit approach.
  • Lead model validation and AI-related assurance, including framework definition and coordination of assurance activity across GIA and the wider organisation.
  • Drive the adoption of data-driven assurance techniques, acting as a functional lead within GIA.
  • Contribute to GIA strategy, audit planning and prioritisation processes.
  • Manage and deliver multiple audit reviews concurrently within areas of expertise, including credit risk, lending risk, model risk and related data domains.
  • Line manage, coach and develop resources, with a particular focus on building data analytics and assurance capability.
  • Provide oversight, supervision and quality assurance over work delivered by the team and other assurance contributors.
  • Partner closely with leaders across Financial Services, Credit Risk, Data and Digital Operations to provide trusted assurance and insight.
  • Present clear insight and foresight to senior leadership and governance forums.

Requirements

  • 7+ years' experience in internal audit, risk, or assurance roles, preferably within credit risk, data management or data analytics in Financial Services or Insurance.
  • Proven experience setting and implementing data analytics, automation and/or AI assurance strategies, methodologies and operating practices.
  • Strong people management experience, including supervision, coaching and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex audit delivery across multiple engagements.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate technical assurance findings into meaningful insight and foresight for senior leadership and the Board.
