Job description

At Tata Technologies we make product development dreams a reality by designing, engineering and validating the products of tomorrow for the world's leading manufacturers. Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Hil Test Engineer to be based at our office/ in Warwick. Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions., We are looking for a highly skilled ADAS HiL System Test Engineer to join TTL's Verification & Validation group. The ADAS HiL System Test Engineer will be responsible for writing test cases, maintaining test cases and executing them manually and automatically on a Hardware in the Loop test rig. Preferably ADAS Level 3 Vector based HiL rig. They should have expertise in E2E testing of ADAS ECU software, Vector CANoe, Lauterbach, and Ethernet. A defining aspect of this role is leading the adoption of Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) for automotive test scenarios - authoring test specifications in Gherkin format, driving test generation from requirements, and executing them on HiL benches within GitLab CI/CD pipelines. Area of Responsibility

  • Author and maintain a scalable automated test cases and their scripts for execution on ADSAS ECU software to perform software component validation.

  • Report failures and raise defects on customer system and perform triaging.

  • Strong knowledge of Vector CANoe, and VT HiL system environments to orchestrate end-to-end automated test execution.

  • Good knowledge of python based test libraries and utility modules for HiL bench control, signal stimulation, measurement capture, and automated pass/fail evaluation.

  • Implement framework features including test data management, parameterized test execution, parallel test runs, and structured test reporting.

  • Lead the BDD practice for ADAS domain test cases - collaborate with systems engineers and product owners to define acceptance criteria in plain English.

  • Author clear, structured Gherkin feature files (Feature, Scenario, Scenario Outline, Given-When-Then, Background, Examples tables) that directly trace to system requirements and safety goals.

  • Drive automated test generation from requirements documents and FMEA items - convert system behaviors, fault conditions, and boundary cases into executable Gherkin scenarios systematically.

  • Maintain BDD scenario libraries covering normal operation, fault injection, boundary conditions, and regression for ADAS functionality.

  • Design and implement test cases, test steps, and configuration sets for ADAS Components.

  • Develop CAPL/Python packages and plug-in scripts to extend framework capability - custom report generators, bench state managers, and signal verification utilities.

  • Configure tools connections for CANoe, Lauterbach, INCA, and diagnostic interfaces (UDS/OBD) within a unified test project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

  • Strong experience in automotive test automation with a focus on HiL environments E2E software testing.

  • Proven expertise in Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) - writing Gherkin/Xray Test Cases and driving test generation from requirements.

  • Hands-on proficiency with Vector Canoe: test package design, tool connections, CAPL/Python scripting, ATX reporting, and CI integration.

  • Ability to generate comprehensive test suites from requirements documents, FMEAs, and safety analyses using systematic test design techniques.

  • Strong Python 3.x programming skills - object-oriented design, modular architecture, unit testing (pytest), and packaging.

  • Experience writing CAPL/Python scripts for HiL bench control, CAN message parsing, test data generation, and automated reporting.

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience building and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines - authoring.gitlab-ci.yml files, defining multi-stage workflows, and configuring GitLab Runners.

  • Expert-level proficiency with Vector CANoe for bus simulation, test module development, and CAPL scripting.

  • Hands-on HiL bench configuration and test execution in an automotive ECU validation environment.
