This is a part-time position working 25 hours per week.
The purpose of this role is to provide technical and quality coverage across late and night shift operations, where there is currently limited on-site QA presence.
The core requirement is to provide consistent evening/night coverage, to overlap the late shift and night shift. The coverage window would be approximately 19:00 - 00:00, however flexibility may be considered regarding the exact 5-hour shift worked.
MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:
This role exists to ensure product safety, legality, authenticity and quality standards are maintained during late and night production operations.
The Quality Assurance Technician is accountable for maintaining site compliance with food safety, GMP and HACCP standards outside of core daytime hours, ensuring that production processes remain controlled, monitored and audit-ready at all times.
This role contributes to Cafea UK's success by strengthening technical oversight during critical evening and night production periods, reducing risk and maintaining customer confidence.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Audit and monitor CCPs, GMP standards and Glass/Plastic controls.
· Inspect and assess incoming raw materials, agglomerated product and finished packed product using HPLC, Karl Fischer, moisture meters, shaker and bulk density equipment. Document and report findings.
· Inspect incoming packaging against agreed specifications and record non-conformances.
· Sign off production cleaning and completed engineering work where required.
· Conduct daily line validations in agglomeration and packing areas.
· Monitor weight control systems and verify compliance.
· Carry out calibration checks on laboratory and factory equipment.
· Investigate foreign body incidents, log non-conformances and liaise cross-functionally to implement corrective actions.
· Complete daily SAP tasks including fault finding, material release and trace exercises.
· Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the laboratory and tasting room.
· Support the Technical Team during customer and third-party audits.
· Undertake additional duties consistent with the responsibilities of the role., The post-holder will be responsible for health and safety in the area under his/her control on a day-to-day basis, and must ensure as far as is reasonably practicable, that he/she is familiar with all relevant Health and Safety legislation and recommendations and these are observed within his/her areas of responsibility. Attention is drawn particularly to the existence of the Company's policy statement on Health and Safety at Work. Any accident in the post holder's area must be recorded in the accident book., The postholder is responsible for ensuring that the production of goods, adheres to product safety, legality, authenticity, integrity and quality standards.
Requirements
Do you have experience in HACCP?, * Experience within food manufacturing
- Strong understanding of GMP and food safety principles
- Good working knowledge of quality systems and documentation control
- Computer literate (databases, spreadsheets, SAP or similar systems)
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with a methodical approach
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently during evening/night shifts
- Effective communication and team working skills
Desirable:
- Experience within the coffee industry
- Knowledge or experience of HPLC
- HACCP qualification
