Data Engineer | 6 Month Contract

The Client A major UK organisation operating multiple well-known brands at scale. Following recent ERP and finance system changes, they're investing heavily in modernising reporting and building a reliable, transparent data platform to support future growth.

The Project You'll join a programme rebuilding critical financial reporting - including complex margin and rebate calculations that directly impact commercial performance.

Alongside this, you'll design and deliver scalable data pipelines in Azure, creating a repeatable blueprint that can be rolled out across multiple business units as the organisation moves away from Legacy systems.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Build and maintain robust data pipelines across Azure
  • Develop workflows using Databricks and/or Synapse
  • Transform raw data (CSV, Excel, etc.) into clean, reliable datasets
  • Translate complex pricing and margin logic into scalable data models
  • Improve data quality, validation, and performance
  • Support the transition away from Legacy reporting tools
  • Contribute to scalable, reusable data architecture

Tech Stack: Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Databricks, Data Factory, SQL

What They're Looking For

  • Strong Azure data engineering experience
  • Proven track record delivering ETL/ELT pipelines in production
  • Solid SQL and data transformation skills
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets
  • Ability to work closely with business stakeholders and translate requirements into solutions

Contract Details

  • Day Rate: £450-£550 - Outside
  • Duration: 6 months (likely extension)
  • Location: West Yorkshire/Hybrid
