Job description
As an Assistant Network Technician, you'll play a hands-on role in helping to maintain our Water Distribution Network and ensure our customers continue receiving some of the highest-quality drinking water in the world.
You'll learn how our operational processes work and gain the skills required to support the delivery of our Water Quality and Water Aesthetics programmes. Working closely with Maintenance Managers, technicians, planners and scientific teams, you'll help deliver planned maintenance, network surveys, asset inspections, water sampling and flushing activities.
This is a field-based role, working outdoors across a wide area, operating underground assets, using digital tools to record and update information, and supporting both planned and reactive activities. You'll also provide customer-focused support during water-related incidents, ensuring clear communication and effective resolution.
The role is designed as a progressive pathway, where you'll be supported to upskill, gain qualifications and move towards becoming a fully competent Water Aesthetics Technician. You'll embody our "Make Today Great" ethos, ensuring high-quality service and professionalism at every customer interaction., You'll Be Involved In:
- Supporting planned maintenance including valve operations, inspections and flushing
- Collecting water quality samples and completing on-site testing activities
- Conducting customer flow and pressure tests
- Assisting with incident response activities as part of the reactive team
- Updating digital mapping systems and reporting asset conditions
- Maintaining emergency equipment and preparing assets for maintenance
