Job description
As an Assistant Network Technician, you'll play a hands-on role in helping to maintain our Water Distribution Network and ensure our customers continue receiving some of the highest-quality drinking water in the world. You'll learn how our operational processes work and gain the skills required to support the delivery of our Water Quality and Water Aesthetics programmes. Working closely with Maintenance Managers, technicians, planners and scientific teams, you'll help deliver planned maintenance, network surveys, asset inspections, water sampling and flushing activities. This is a field-based role, working outdoors across a wide area, operating underground assets, using digital tools to record and update information, and supporting both planned and reactive activities. You'll also provide customer-focused support during water-related incidents, ensuring clear communication and effective resolution. The role is designed as a progressive pathway, where you'll be supported to upskill, gain qualifications and move towards becoming a fully competent Water Aesthetics Technician. You'll embody our "Make Today Great" ethos, ensuring high-quality service and professionalism at every customer interaction., * Supporting planned maintenance including valve operations, inspections and flushing
- Collecting water quality samples and completing on-site testing activities
- Conducting customer flow and pressure tests
- Assisting with incident response activities as part of the reactive team
- Updating digital mapping systems and reporting asset conditions
- Maintaining emergency equipment and preparing assets for maintenance
- Working towards a License to Operate (CABWI) with full support provided
Requirements
- A practical, hands-on approach and enjoyment of working outdoors all year round
- Willingness to learn about the Water Distribution Network and water quality processes
- Ability to work safely in line with Anglian Water's Health & Safety standards
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
- Confidence using digital devices to record data and update network information
- Ability to work flexibly, including participation in out-of-hours activity when required
- A positive attitude and commitment to continuous learning and development
- Ability to travel around the region as part of day-to-day duties
