Job description

Join QIAGEN as a Student Temp in Software Development and help us drive innovation in life science and molecular diagnostics. In this role, you support our software engineering teams in developing instrument control software for laboratory devices used worldwide. Based at our operational headquarters in Hilden, you gain hands-on experience in an international environment while contributing to meaningful projects that make improvements in life possible.

Your tasks include

  • Supporting software project managers with organizational and administrative activities.
  • Assisting in software testing and verification for our instrument software.
  • Collaborating closely with software developers and test engineers.
  • Taking on small programming tasks to automate recurring workflows.
  • Contributing to documentation and preparation of project materials.
  • Helping coordinate meetings, reviews, and project updates.
  • Supporting general team activities within the software development department.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in computer science, engineering, natural sciences, or a related field.
  • Confident using MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong team player with excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Very good communication skills in English and German (C1 level).
  • Ideally, first practical experience in software development or software testing (e.g., internship, previous student role).
  • Interest in working in an agile software development environment.
