Job description
- The Specialist Business Support Officer (Admin & Clerical) will provide high-quality administrative support within the Children, Family and Education Directorate.
- Working on a temporary basis for 12 weeks, the postholder will assist with day-to-day business support tasks to ensure smooth operational delivery and additional capacity for the service.
- The role is full-time at 36 hours per week and based at 2 Alice Square, Birkenhead, Merseyside.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
- Provide efficient administrative and clerical support to the team and management.
- Maintain, update and accurately input data into internal systems and databases.
- Manage correspondence, handle enquiries and respond to information requests in a timely manner.
- Support document preparation, including reports, minutes, letters and forms.
- Arrange meetings, prepare agendas, take accurate minutes and distribute follow-up actions.
- Assist with filing (electronic and physical), scanning and document management.
- Handle confidential information in line with data protection and organisational policies.
- Provide general business support to ensure smooth daily operations within the service.
- Liaise with internal departments and external partners when required.
Requirements
- Strong administrative and clerical experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confident user of Microsoft Office applications and digital record-keeping systems.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience arranging meetings and producing accurate minutes.
- Ability to work with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Customer-focused approach when handling enquiries.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
