Job description
We are looking for an Advanced WordPress Developer with deep backend and custom plugin expertise to join our team.
You won't just be installing themes and stringing together third-party tools; you will be architecting databases, writing custom logic, and building scalable platforms from the ground up.
Your primary focus will be developing complex architectures, specifically large-scale WooCommerce stores, advanced Membership platforms, and high-traffic news/publishing websites.
If you live and breathe object-oriented PHP, custom plugin architecture, query optimization, and API integrations, we want you on our team.
What You'll Do
- Advanced Plugin Development: Build custom, secure, and highly performant plugins from scratch to handle unique business logic, completely bypassing the need for bloated off-the-shelf alternatives.
- Architect & Build: Develop highly customized, scalable backend solutions for WordPress.
- Complex Platforms: Lead the technical development of robust WooCommerce platforms, large-scale membership portals, and high-volume publishing/news sites.
- Performance Optimization: Ensure all builds align with Boompah's "High-Performance" promise by optimizing database queries, implementing advanced caching strategies (Redis, Memcached), and structuring clean code.
- Integrations: Connect WordPress environments with complex third-party APIs, CRMs, and payment gateways utilizing the WP REST API or GraphQL.
- Collaborate: Work closely with our team to ensure a seamless bridge between server logic and user experience.
Requirements
- Experience Level: 5+ years of advanced WordPress development, with a heavy emphasis on backend architecture.
- Plugin Architecture: Demonstrable experience writing custom WordPress plugins from scratch. You must understand how to properly use hooks, filters, and WordPress core APIs using modern, object-oriented PHP.
- Proven Portfolio: You must have a portfolio or GitHub repository showcasing your work on highly customized WooCommerce sites, complex Membership websites, or large-scale, high-traffic news/editorial sites.
- Database Mastery: Deep understanding of custom post types, custom taxonomies, custom database tables, and how to write efficient SQL queries that don't drag down server load.
