Our growth is driving us to strengthen our Hardware Engineering team to support the development, industrialization, and scalability of our infrastructure. Your mission will be to lead the Hardware Expertise team and implement the strategy, ensuring best-in-class hardware validation, qualification, and roadmap execution to deliver reliable, high-performance, and future-ready cloud infrastructure. You will be part of a team of 7 people composed of a team lead, 4 Hardware Systems Engineers, and 2 Hardware Architects. The team is responsible for evaluating, validating, and qualifying hardware solutions used across Scaleway's core products (Bare Metal, Instances, Storage, GPUaaS), as well as supporting production readiness, firmware integration, and co-designing next-generation platforms with ODM partners.
The team plays a central role in bringing new hardware solutions from R&D to industrialization at scale.
YOUR DAILY ROUTINE
- Lead, mentor, and manage the Hardware Expertise team, including performance, hiring, and career development
- Define and drive the team's roadmap and project portfolio in alignment with the VP Hardware Engineering
- Oversee hardware validation, qualification, and testing processes for servers and components
- Set the technical direction for system and component evaluation, including firmware topics
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain teams at leadership level
- Manage strategic relationships with OEM/ODM partners and hardware vendors
- Ensure support readiness, documentation, and successful industrialization of new hardware platforms
- Supervise the development of hardware validation tools and processes
- Lead technology watch initiatives and identify next-generation hardware opportunities
- Drive contributions to Open Hardware and Open Firmware ecosystems (OCP, OpenBMC), Manager interview to understand your approach to the role (45 min)
- Live interview with the manager to validate your expertise (1h)
- Final interview with CxO Operations
Requirements
Proven experience (3-5+ years) managing a hardware or infrastructure engineering team

Strong expertise in server hardware and components (CPU, GPU, DPU, memory, storage, NICs, etc.)

Deep knowledge of hardware validation, qualification, and R&D processes

Experience with hardware management standards (IPMI, Redfish) and firmware environments -Solid understanding of Linux systems and system administration (PXE, DHCP, grub, kernel)

Experience working with OEM/ODM partners and hardware vendors

Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and IaaS environments

Familiarity with Open Hardware ecosystems (OCP, OpenBMC) and large-scale infrastructure constraints (power, cooling, datacenter)
