Job description

A leading engineering and manufacturing organisation is seeking a Spares Technical Specialist to support their growing Spares, Service, and Technical Operations function. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on technical accuracy, process improvement, and cross-department collaboration.

You'll be the go-to expert for parts identification, technical documentation, and enquiry management, playing a key role in improving customer experience, internal workflows, and operational efficiency.

Hybrid working is available, though this position is not suitable for fully remote work.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Operations & Internal Systems

  • Introduce new tools, equipment, and add-on items to support spares growth

  • Recommend products that enhance customer maintenance and experience

  • Develop and maintain processes for handling spares enquiries

  • Improve workflow efficiency and reduce response times

  • Maintain enquiry trackers, dashboards, and performance metrics

  • Identify process issues and drive timely resolutions

Spares Manual Ownership & Parts Identification

  • Own, update, and improve the Spares Manual
  • Ensure accuracy of part numbers, drawings, and technical data
  • Support spares enquiries and identify correct parts
  • Use drawings, BOMs, and OEM data to confirm compatibility
  • Maintain revision control and documentation consistency
  • Act as the internal expert for part identification

Technical Support

  • Provide technical clarification for complex spares queries
  • Support Service, Sales, and Field Service team
  • Ensure customer-facing technical information is accurate and engineering-aligne
  • Identify upgrade or project opportunities and pass them to relevant team

Analytics, Reporting & Market Development

  • Produce and interpret enquiry data and operational metrics
  • Analyse demand trends and enquiry patterns
  • Provide insights to support planning, growth, and new opportunities
  • Deliver clear, reliable analysis to support decision-making

Order Processing & Dispatch Support

  • Provide cover for order processing and dispatch
  • Support export documentation, including commercial invoices and compliance checks
  • Help ensure accurate and timely dispatch of goods

Requirements

  • CAD experience across multiple platforms
  • Strong drive to research, gather information, and present it clearly
  • Customer-focused with professional communication skills
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive approach
  • Ability to design and develop tools/resources that simplify parts identification

Benefits & conditions

Location: Banbury (Hybrid - not fully remote) Salary: £45,620 - £50,380 DOE Hours: 47.5 hours per week (9.5-hour days + 30-minute break) Contract: Full Time, Permanent
