Job description

Role: Senior Full Stack Software Engineer Location: London, Manchester or Bristol (Hybrid) Length: Initial 6-month contract Rate: £650-£700 per day (Inside IR35) Clearance: Active SC clearance is preferred, or candidates must be SC-eligible

We're supporting a major UK Government department that's looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to help design, build, and run critical digital services.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys technical ownership, mentoring others, and improving the resilience and security of live systems.

Key experience

  • Strong Back End development in two or more languages (Python, Node.js/JavaScript, Ruby)
  • End-to-end full stack experience including modern Front End frameworks and accessibility standards
  • Experience building cloud-hosted services (AWS, serverless/FaaS)
  • Containerisation and microservices using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Solid understanding of authentication, authorisation, and web security best practices
  • Modern engineering practices: TDD, automated testing, CI/CD, GitHub, IaC (Terraform)
  • Comfortable working in Agile delivery environments, both independently and collaboratively

Desirable

  • Experience with .NET/ASP.NET Core
  • Exposure to Azure or GCP
