Job description

Morson Edge is proud to be recruiting on behalf of TKMS ATLAS UK for a Systems Engineer to join their growing Systems Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of advanced maritime and defence systems, supporting delivery across the full engineering lifecycle., As a Systems Engineer, you will support the development of complex maritime and defence systems by undertaking systems engineering activities across the Concept, Definition, Delivery and Qualification phases. The role involves system definition, requirements management, modelling, and verification to ensure successful system integration and performance.

You will report directly to the Systems Engineering Team Leader and work closely with project teams, engineering leadership and stakeholders., Model-Based Systems Engineering & Architecture

  • Develop and maintain system-level architectures using MBSE approaches.
  • Create model-based artefacts using SysML within tools such as Enterprise Architect.
  • Produce system models, interface definitions and design artefacts across software, electronics and mechanical domains.

Requirements Capture & Management

  • Capture and analyse stakeholder needs and derive system and subsystem requirements.
  • Manage requirements using tools such as IBM DOORS (9.x/NG).
  • Ensure requirements are SMART and fully traceable throughout the lifecycle.

Verification, Validation & Compliance

  • Support planning and execution of Verification & Validation (V&V) activities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g. DEF STAN, MIL STD), legislation and internal processes.
  • Contribute to certification and acceptance activities.

Collaboration, Integration & Communication

  • Work collaboratively within cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Support system integration and resolution of technical issues.
  • Present technical solutions, trade studies and findings at design reviews.
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation aligned with company standards.

Requirements

  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Physics, Computing or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and synthesise complex technical information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences., * Experience working within the engineering lifecycle in a complex or highly regulated industry (e.g. defence, aerospace, nuclear, rail).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams., * Experience with requirements engineering and tools such as IBM DOORS.
  • Understanding of MBSE principles and SysML.
  • Experience with modelling tools such as Enterprise Architect.
  • Domain knowledge in one or more of the following:
  • Maritime or Naval Systems
  • Unmanned Systems
  • Sonar and Underwater Acoustics
  • Hardware/Software Integration, * Self-motivated, organised and adaptable.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Proactive mindset with ownership of tasks, risks and deliverables.
