Job description

We are looking for a Cloud Solutions Architect to join our Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCOE). You will have the opportunity to contribute to the overall Bank of Ireland IT Digital transformation journey. You will work with the best talent in a multi-vendor environment and be part of a growing team which is building solutions from scratch using native technologies.

The purpose of the Cloud Solutions Architect within the CCoE is to design efficient, secure and reliable cloud infrastructure solutions both for projects and the AWS public cloud platform managed by the CCoE., * Design cloud solutions and new features that are aligned with business requirements and bank policies, refining requirements to ensure the built solution meets business and customer needs.

  • Provide guidance to business and other areas on the best use of cloud computing, and guiding partners on solution implementation.
  • Assess opportunities for cloud adoption, constantly review the bank's public cloud platform for innovation and cost optimisation.
  • Present and communicate architectural solutions to technical and non-technical partners, working with other bank areas to ensure security by design is adopted.
  • Create and document repeatable patterns to accelerate cloud adoption and reduce overhead for platform customers. Collaborate with development teams to implement and deploy new features and enhancements ensuring they meet reliability and performance standards.

You have a proven track record of designing and implementing scalable cloud solutions over at least five years. You're adept at applying modern architecture patterns and using automation to deliver secure, efficient environments. With strong analytical and communication skills, you can assess complex data, articulate key insights, and collaborate effectively across teams to shape and deliver high-quality technical solutions., The Infrastructure Operations Team role is to \\"Enable the Service\\" through driving our partners in providing the Bank with the Technology required to run the business, securing the Customers and Banks data, improving stability and remaining current in order to provide a premier service. The Cloud Centre of Excellence has the mission to enable Cloud and to act as a trusted advisor for the Cloud Adoption in the Bank which is a foundation for Digital Transformation.

This is a hybrid role, based primarily at ITC, Cabinteely, Dublin 18. . We typically ask colleagues to spend a minimum of 8 days per month working in-person to support collaboration and connection. Specific arrangements will be confirmed by your recruiter to ensure they meet the needs of the role and team.

Requirements

  • Cloud-native architecture, including microservices, serverless, and containerization
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and CloudFormation
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS or Azure)
  • Hands on Experience in Designing or implementing Kubernetes Services (preferably EKS).
  • Managing public cloud infrastructure and producing clear, well-structured design documentation
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in the financial sector, particularly with cloud adoption or migration
  • Experience with both AWS and Azure
  • Exposure to CI/CD and DevOps practices using IaC tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation
