Job description

An opportunity has arisen for an Embedded Software Engineer to join an established engineering business delivering automation solutions across a range of industrial sectors, including manufacturing, food processing, and related environments. This is a hands-on role offering exposure to the full project lifecycle - from design and development through to testing, commissioning, and ongoing support., As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing, developing, and implementing control and automation systems
  • Programming PLCs and HMIs using industry-standard platforms
  • Supporting full project lifecycle delivery, including testing and commissioning
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues within control systems
  • Collaborating with internal teams to deliver project requirements
  • Producing technical documentation and system specifications
  • Supporting on-site installations and occasional travel to customer sites

Requirements

We're keen to speak with engineers who have:

  • Experience working with PLC programming and control systems

  • Knowledge of automation systems within industrial environments

  • Experience with Siemens and/or Allen Bradley platforms (or similar)

  • Understanding of electrical systems and control panel design

  • Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team Desirable (Not Essential)

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

  • Experience within industrial or manufacturing environments

  • Exposure to commissioning or on-site project work Eligibility Criteria

  • Must have the right to work in the UK

  • Must be able to reliably commute to Haverhill, Suffolk
