Job description
This position requires a Senior Technical Analyst who will contribute to the technical design and implementation of the Bronze and Silver layers of Swift's Data Platform using the Medallion Architecture. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of data engineering principles, ETL and data modelling concepts and an interest or background in the payment's domain. The role involves collaborating closely with business teams and technical engineers to deliver a reliable, enriched and integrated common set of tables to enable the creation of business-ready datasets in the Gold layer.
- Translate requirements into actionable data-layer specifications: Convert business, functional, and non-functional requirements into clear analysis outputs and detailed specifications for implementing Bronze (ingestion/raw) and Silver (cleansed/conformed) datasets in a medallion architecture.
- Define data structures and transformation logic: Document source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, business logic, metadata, and acceptance criteria for Bronze/Silver pipelines (including schema evolution, incremental loads, and historical handling).
- Bridge squads and align stakeholders: Act as the glue between the Gold squad (business analysts and consumers) and the Bronze/Silver squad (data engineers), ensuring shared understanding of definitions, constraints, dependencies, and delivery priorities.
- Validate feasibility with hands-on technical awareness: Bring sufficient implementation knowledge to challenge assumptions, identify technical constraints (performance, latency, storage, security, orchestration), and propose pragmatic solutions aligned with platform standards.
- Investigate data quality and confirm assumptions: Access the data platform directly and write queries to profile data, detect anomalies, validate data patterns, and support root-cause analysis of data quality issues (e.g., completeness, uniqueness, timeliness).
- Perform technical impact analysis and dependency management: Analyse upstream/downstream impacts of changes (schemas, logic, sources, SLAs), map dependencies across layers, and communicate risks and mitigation plans to keep delivery predictable and controlled.
