Job description

As a Design Engineer, you will play a key role within the Production team, contributing to both the ongoing development of an established product range and the design of new products. This is an exciting opportunity to drive innovation and make a real impact on product performance and manufacturing efficiency., * Drive innovation and continuous improvement in product design and production processes

  • Develop new products from concept through to production
  • Enhance existing designs to improve quality, reliability, and cost-efficiency
  • Create Bills of Materials (BoMs)
  • Produce 3D models, assemblies, detailed drawings, and technical documentation
  • Identify production issues and recommend effective solutions
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to improve processes and outcomes
  • Support the development of safety procedures and sustainability initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with relevant British and international standards
  • Assist with approval and certification processes
  • Provide engineering support to other departments
  • Liaise with internal teams to improve production efficiency, cost, and labour requirements
  • Stay up to date with industry advancements and share knowledge with colleagues
  • Promote best practices including Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DFM/DFA)
  • Identify and report unsafe practices

Requirements

Do you have experience in Sheet metal?, Our client is looking for a motivated and forward-thinking individual to join their Design team., * Experience in mechanical design engineering

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (Inventor preferred)
  • Experience with PLM systems (Vault)
  • Good working knowledge of Excel
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics NAV)
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations (e.g. weight distribution, stress analysis)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Desirable:

  • Experience with surfacing, sheet metal, or FEA
  • Background in complex product design
