Job description

MBDA' Simulation Software department is at the forefront of developing simulations for the Weapon System and sub-systems teams using the full development life cycle and agile methodologies. Our simulations follow best practices and capability to ensure our products are rigorously tested, fit-for-purpose, and ready for delivery. As a Software Testing Engineer, you aren't just finding bugs; you are a Quality Advocate ensuring our simulations are mission-ready.

Reporting to the Group and Project Leads, you will be responsible for the end-to-end software testing and proving lifecycle for our simulation software releases and software defects. Your responsibilities will span planning, conduct, and reporting:

  • Planning
  • Understanding Customer needs and requirements from a proving perspective.
  • Understanding design and architecture including defining software test bed requirements.
  • Developing comprehensive software test plans, writing, and running test sets, designs, and specifications.
  • Conduct
  • Regular progressive software testing assurance during software development cycles.
  • Leading testing of software defects.
  • Liaising with our Support team in order to provide logs/data analysis when issues are identified.
  • Demonstrate compliance to requirements.
  • Executing formal software qualification testing.
  • Reporting
  • Providing regular updates to project leads and stakeholders on software functionality.
  • Writing detailed software test and analysis reports for certification purposes.
  • Supporting the software delivery and release process, including final certification activities.

Requirements

  • Software Test automation experience
  • Proven experience of understanding software Logs/Data analysis
  • CI/CD software pipelines
  • GitLab, JIRA, scripting, IBM PLM/ ALM/ ETM /Doors
  • Knowledge of Agile Scrum
  • Ability to understand (or experience with) compliance and regulatory requirements

Desirable, but not essential:

  • AI test automation tooling
  • Software Simulation/Emulator knowledge
  • Linux Network Configuration and analysis tools

Benefits & conditions

Salary: circa £58,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 5 days per week on-site, due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.
