Job description

  • Acting as the decision maker for the Data Design Authority and key advisor to the Design Review Committee.
  • Guiding engineering managers and squad leads on the value of well-designed, well-governed data models.
  • Driving the delivery of our IT strategy, centrally integrating Customer, Client Contact, Courier and Employee Master Data.
  • Delivering new and enhanced data domains based on conceptual and logical data models.
  • Leading 'lunch and learn' sessions and providing consultancy to upskill teams in key data areas.
  • Ensuring best practice when accessing operational data, including promoting a loosely coupled architecture via service layers.
  • Collaborating with engineering teams and database admins on data retention, housekeeping, and optimised data storage.
  • Owning and evaluating data tooling and identifying future requirements.
  • Maintaining crucial data artefacts including the Network Data Model, Business Glossary, Data Dictionary, and Data Catalogue.
  • Working with Data Stewards to ensure appropriate access, ownership, and governance of business data.

Requirements

  • Strong experience translating logical models into physical models and modelling existing databases.
  • Familiarity with mixed vendor, multi-cloud environments - especially AWS.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases across both IaaS & PaaS models.
  • Skilled in data analysis, design, modelling, and assuring data quality.
  • Be an excellent communicator with proven confidence in presenting complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong analytical skillset with experience conducting research and producing high-quality reports.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture tools and methods
  • Comfortable working with autonomy within a clear accountability framework.
  • Ability to influence colleagues, partners, and stakeholders at a domain level.
  • Proven experience in making informed decisions that shape project and team success.
  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate and TOGAF 9.x Certification certificates are strongly desired
