Job description
As a Junior Network Engineer, you will be joining the LAND Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) programme delivering a flexible and agile system of systems that will enable the Army from 2035 and beyond to FIND the enemy across all the domains it will operate in. Day-to-day, you'll work with project managers and technical leads, to provide the systems required to ingest data from all battlefield sensors and Combined, Joint, Inter-Agency, Intra-Government and Multinational (CJIIM) information/intelligence feeds, fuse it, analyse it and distribute the resulting intelligence rapidly to battlefield users. Your responsibilities will include:
- Responding to technical support calls from end users of computers and software applications
- Setting up and installing new computers, networks and software and follow work instructions to change components
- Installing updates and patches to software and hardware applications
- Diagnosing and fixing network problems and hardware or software faults
- Maintain network connectivity and accurately record changes
- Fault finding network and hardware issues
Requirements
Essential experience of the Junior Network Engineer:
- Experience of working within an IT service desk/help desk environment
- WINTEL, VMware and implementation experience
- Knowledge and understanding of the design, implementation and troubleshooting of Hierarchical IP Subnetting and Routing protocols including OSPF and BGP
- Knowledge of routers, switches and firewalls
- Professional interpersonal/communication skills to convey technical information
- Positive attitude and determination to see issues addressed successfully, * Holds Networking certification eg.CCNP or similar
