Are you skilled in data center operations and seeking a part-time role? Join our team to help ensure the seamless performance of state-of-the-art data centers-all within a flexible and supportive work environment!
What You'll Do:
Smart-Hands Operations
- Physical equipment installation, changes, and decommissioning: Install or remove servers, storage devices, network switches, and other hardware per documented instructions.
- Rack and stack equipment: Position and mount devices in racks, ensuring secure connections and optimal airflow.
- Cable management: Run, label, test, and organize network and power cabling.
- Component replacement and upgrades: Swap faulty hardware (e.g., drives, power supplies, memory), upgrade components as directed.
- Asset audits and inventory: Conduct physical inspections, tag and update hardware assets, and maintain up-to-date equipment records.
- Routine maintenance tasks: Clean equipment, visually inspect for issues, check fans and status lights.
- On-the-ground troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware and connectivity issues that require physical access.
Remote-Hands Operations
- Visual inspections: Assess the condition and status of hardware, report back to clients or supervisors.
- Device resets and power cycling: Perform simple device reboots, hardware resets, and connect crash carts as needed.
- Server console interaction: Attach keyboards/monitors, input commands, collect console log output or error messages under remote instruction.
- Basic hardware moves/changes: Relocate or install physical components such as cables, loop-back plugs, SFPs, and patch panels.
- Shipping and receiving: Prepare equipments for shipment, unbox, and safely dispose of packaging materials.
- Inventory labeling: Tag and update demarcation or network labels as requested.
- Basic on-demand support: Fulfill ad-hoc client requests, including toggling switches, confirming link lights, or hot-swapping replaceable components.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a datacenter enviroment, IT infrastructure, or field service role (preferred).
- Certifications (Preferred): CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or relevant Data Center/Infrastructure certifications.
- Education: Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Technical knowledge: Familiarity with server, storage, and networking hardware.
- Strong proficiency in server hardware (Dell, HPE, IBM,Supermicro).
- Hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper and other network equipments.
- Problem-solving: Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve hardware issues.
- Ability to interpret technical schematics and documentation.
- Cabling expertise: Experience in structured cabling, labeling, and cable testing.
- Physical ability: Capable of lifting and installing rack-mounted equipment.
- Security awareness: Adherence to data center access protocols and compliance standards.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, both verbal and written.
- Documentation: Accurate record-keeping of interventions, changes, and asset management.
- Proactive and adaptable, with a willingness to learn new technologies and procedures.
Work Environment
- This role requires regular on-site presence at data center locations.
- May involve occasional travel to support remote facilities or client deployments.
- Ability to lift and move hardware equipment (up to 25 kg) safely as part of installation and maintenance activities.
