Job description
As an OpenShift Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and operating containerised platforms that enable scalable, resilient, and secure solutions. Working on complex, high-impact programmes, you will help drive innovation through cloud-native technologies and automation. You'll take ownership of platform engineering activities, contribute creative solutions to technical challenges, and collaborate within a supportive environment that enables continuous growth and meaningful impact., In this role, you will design, deploy, and manage OpenShift-based infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability across containerised environments. You will take ownership of platform reliability, leveraging automation and infrastructure-as-code to deliver consistent and efficient deployments aligned with business and technical requirements.
You will collaborate closely with DevOps and development teams to support CI/CD integration and evolving application needs. Within a collaborative and expert-led environment, you will contribute innovative approaches to platform engineering, enhance automation practices, and ensure robust disaster recovery and continuity capabilities.

Design & Manage OpenShift clusters and container platforms

Automate & Streamline infrastructure using Ansible, OpenStack, and scripting

Orchestrate & Maintain container workloads using Kubernetes

Monitor & Optimise platform performance, capacity, and resilience

Support & Integrate CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows

Implement & Maintain disaster recovery and backup solutions
Requirements
You should have strong experience in container platform engineering, with hands-on expertise in OpenShift, Kubernetes, and infrastructure automation.
You will bring a proactive approach to platform reliability and a strong understanding of modern cloud-native infrastructure within secure or enterprise environments.

You should have proven experience with OpenShift and Kubernetes

Strong understanding of containerised infrastructure and microservices

Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, OpenStack, Terraform)

Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Bash, Python)

Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

Knowledge of infrastructure resilience, backup, and disaster recovery

Familiarity with secure or regulated environments is advantageous

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This position will be based on site near Gloucester 5 days a week.
