Job description

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a 5D Digital Delivery Engineer to join our growing team in Essex (Lower Thames Crossing Project) The 5D Digital Delivery Engineer combines a strong digital focus with traditional estimating experience to deliver enhanced efficiency, transparency and integration of the Bill of Quantities with the wider project delivery team functions and partners. The 5D Digital Delivery Engineer will facilitate progressive development of Bill of Quantities to reflect the impact of key decisions during the project life-cycle e.g. design development, change, procurement decisions, methods, etc. Key to this approach is utilising BIM models, asset data and information to generate Bill of Quantities in accordance with the standard method of measurement, which become a single common language to define the developing solution. The role supports technical assurance, model development, assets data, estimating, carbon, change control and other functions. What you'll be doing Governance

  • Adhere to the Company's governance requirements and maximises

LEAN/digital opportunities.

  • Supporting technical assurance - progressive and stage gates

  • Supporting estimating and forecasting through the commercial teams.

Digital Delivery

  • Manage their personal development

  • Undertake Model based take-off in coordination with design and as-built models

or information

  • Use of 5D software applications

  • Use of 2D and 3D modelling applications

  • Database and PowerBI management for standardisation and reporting

Management and Administration

  • Manages information and systematically checks data and source information

  • Estimating and progress reporting e.g. estimate at completion for forecasting

  • Prepares Bill of Quantities in accordance with standard Method of Measurement

and Carbon rates

  • Management of multiple rate schedules/databases e.g. commercial and carbon

rates

  • Prepares Internal reports for the wider project.

Customer/Change Management

  • Progressive Bill of Quantities management and reporting

  • Analyses of quantities and assessment of change - includes carbon

assessments.

  • Reconciliation and analysis between design, as-built and commercial

information. Procurement

  • Integrate with the procurement team to provide information to support

procurement of packages and self-delivery items. Development, Recruitment and Retention

  • Supports the recruitment, supervision and development of team members

Requirements

  • Experience in model-based take-off

  • Estimating and commercial experience.

  • BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent knowledge

  • RCIS membership or working towards them

  • CSCS Card (Professional Qualified Person)
