Job description
We have a new opportunity for a proactive and technically strong Senior BI Engineer to join a highly skilled Data team within the Client organisation., * Lead the BI workstream for change portfolios, providing technical expertise and design guidance to ensure solutions align with the data strategy and adhere to agreed design standards.
- Utilise cloud technologies and modern programming languages to develop and maintain centralised data platforms supporting operational and strategic business needs.
- Ensure all BI processes and reports are accurately documented, with data governance and quality processes followed and continuously improved.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to translate data requirements into actionable requests or delivered solutions.
- Plan and coordinate prioritisation of data requests to meet business needs in a controlled and efficient manner.
- Manage and review developer output, providing mentoring and sharing best practices across the team.
- Contribute to the development and evolution of technical data standards, ensuring data products remain compliant and robust.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in BI development and business intelligence, with strong proficiency in SQL, Python, DAX and Power Query (M Language).
- Solid understanding of data warehousing, data modelling (Star Schema, Snowflake) and ETL/ELT processes.
- Strong business-facing capability, including business modelling, translating processes into data models and advanced performance tuning for large datasets.
- Proven ability to apply best-practice tools and processes for data security, quality and accuracy, alongside governance frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience leading development workstreams within data-centric or technical projects.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical data into clear insight for non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable working in an agile, fast-paced environment, managing priorities to remain responsive to business needs.
- Proven ability to proactively build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
- Experience collaborating with end users to review testing outcomes, provide recommendations and address data quality feedback.
