Job description

  • Assist with the re-location of data centres, including configuration of routers, switches, firewalls, and remote access devices
  • Support data centre management and planning, ensuring best practice design and power distribution
  • Deliver network optimisation and firewall efficiency improvements
  • Provide consultancy and support for campus network and Wi-Fi refresh projects
  • Contribute to disaster recovery assurance, working towards a 2-hour RTO and zero RPO, including participation in scheduled recovery events
  • Maintain vulnerability management in line with internal policies

  • VMware, We are offering an immediate contract opportunity for a Network Engineer in our Edinburgh office to support a major public sector programme. You will be part of a dynamic team focused on the design, build, and optimisation of network infrastructure. Requirements

  • Extensive experience with Palo Alto technologies, including content filtering and network security
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco and Juniper technologies, including routing and switching (OSPF, BGP)
  • Experience with NSX / Palo Alto firewall administration and Nexus product line
  • Proven ability to design and configure multi-data centre fabrics
  • Familiarity with IPAM/Monitoring tools such as Netbox, LibreNMS, Kentik
  • Certified to CCNP level or equivalent (Arista ACE, PCNSE desirable)
  • Agile working experience and strong risk awareness
  • Desirable Skills: Automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (Ansible, Python, CI/CD pipelines)
  • Experience with Arista CloudVision and SDN environments
  • Knowledge of network monitoring solutions (Thousand Eyes, Catchpoint)
  • Familiarity with VMware vSphere and cross-site deployments
