Hybrid one day per week in Worthing/£800 per day (Inside IR35)/6 to 12 months

A leading utilities company working within Critical National Infrastructure (CNI), seek an experienced senior level Solution Architect to work on a Smart Systems Programme.

Requirements for the Senior Solution Architect - Operational Technology position:

• This is a transformational programme that will look at how they can dramatically improve their operational data collection, contextualisation, visualisation and automation to move towards automation of operational processes where possible.
• This is a senior role, as given the stakeholders involved they will need someone who is capable of managing governance of forums, manage stakeholder expectations and provide strategic thinking and decision making for key areas.
• A background in operational technology is preferred, given this will involve more of that side of things (eg assets, sensors, operational constraints). However, they are not looking for specific technologies.

Other experience that would be useful for the Senior Solution Architect - Operational Technology position:

• Experience with integration, particularly event based (as they are likely to implement this).
• Experience with data aggregation and contextualisation - taking data from disparate sources and collecting into a location for analysis and decision making.
• Experience with secure architecture - this will involve critical infrastructure and therefore has considerations around what data is shared and how.
• Utilities experience is preferred but not essential.
• Hybrid preferences would apply, and at a minimum you must be able to get to Worthing for workshops, with a preference for being able to come in at least a day a week if required.

The Solution Architect will design and guide the delivery of enterprise scale Case Management solutions that streamline complex workflows, improve service outcomes, and integrate seamlessly with wider organisational systems.

The role requires deep understanding of case lifecycle design, workflow automation, data modelling, and integration patterns across leading case management and workflow platforms.

Core Responsibilities for the Senior Solution Architect - Operational Technology position:

Architecture and Solution Design:

• Define end to end architectures for case driven processes, covering intake, triage, investigation, resolution, and reporting.
• Translate business requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical solution designs that support case types, routing rules, SLAs, knowledge use, and auditability.
• Establish data models, workflow structures, and orchestration patterns that ensure scalability and maintainability.
• Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards, security frameworks, and regulatory obligations.

Case Management Platform Expertise:

Lead the configuration and extension of enterprise case management tools, including:

• Case data structures and relationships.
• Workflow automation, rules engines, and decision logic.
• User experience components such as forms, portals, and dashboards.
• Integration capabilities such as APIs, event frameworks, and connectors.
• Provide technical leadership to development teams, ensuring adherence to best practices and governance.
