Job description
The Head of Digital Experience Capabilities will lead a technology team of managers and senior leaders who are responsible for application development and delivery:
Strategic Leadership

Set strategic direction and manage the roadmap for our digital component framework, directly impacting how insurance products are delivered digitally across multiple geographies and markets

Prioritize new feature development and issue management of the digital component framework

Partner with product, design, and technology leadership to create industry-leading digital experiences that set new standards in insurance
-
Champion innovation while maintaining the stability and reliability critical to financial services
People Management & Development

Lead and inspire a distributed team of UI development professionals across multiple time zones, including architects, framework developers, and application delivery specialists

Lead UI development teams to build new products and maintain existing projects across the enterprise portfolio
-
Build a culture of innovation within a traditionally conservative industry
-
Develop talent that can bridge the gap between insurance domain expertise and modern technology
-
Foster collaboration and excellence across geographically distributed teams
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Delivery

Translate complex insurance requirements into elegant technical solutions
-
Creating High-Level Design diagrams that create alignment and direction for cross-functional technology and engineering teams.

Collaborate with design system governance to ensure compliance with both brand and accessibility standards

Drive measurable improvements in development velocity, product consistency, and speed-to-market for insurance solutions

Working with Agile scrum teams to drive best practices, participate in code reviews, and continuously improve development processes.

Oversee and assist development teams in executing projects on time and compliant to AIG architecture standards

Troubleshoot complex issues and provide solutions to solve them.
Technical Oversight and Governance

Contribute to architectural decisions that balance innovation with insurance industry requirements

Key stakeholder and approver in the application review process to ensure applications are aligned to enterprise technology standards and frameworks

Ensure our framework meets stringent security, compliance, and performance standards
-
Maintain consistent and predictable release and upgrade practices to maintain standards
-
Evaluate emerging technologies for their potential to transform insurance experiences
-
Maintain technical excellence while navigating regulatory constraints
-
Oversee and assist development teams in executing projects within time and compliant to AIG architecture standards
Requirements

Demonstrated knowledge of emerging technologies in modern product development and the insurance industry, + Expert-level knowledge of Angular and enterprise-scale component architectures

You're a systems-oriented thinker who can apply practical solutions in the context of a scalable system and framework
-
Proficient in developing solutions within a microservices architecture using Spring Boot or similar technologies, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and flexibility of services.

Experience with performance optimization for data-heavy applications
-
10+ years of experience in application development with at least 5 years leading application delivery teams using Angular or similar frameworks
-
Experience leading technical teams in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, or insurance preferred)
-
Demonstrated experience working in a highly collaborative manner with cross-functional product teams.

Track record of delivering enterprise-scale solutions on time and within budget
-
Track record of modernizing legacy systems or building new platforms in enterprise environments
-
Success managing distributed teams and complex stakeholder relationships
-
Strong understanding of CI/CD best practices, and implementing automated build, test, and deployment pipelines to ensure seamless and efficient delivery of solutions.

You have a solid understanding of authentication, authorization, and various security protocols (e.g., OAuth2, JWT), ensuring secure application and service access across distributed systems.

Strong understanding of design systems, component libraries, and their governance

Exceptional communication skills to articulate technical vision to insurance executives

Proven ability to balance innovation with risk management

Understanding of how technology drives business value in financial services

Experience with metrics-driven development and ROI demonstration

Ability to navigate complex organizational structures and influence without authority
