Job description

GTS is hiring a Network Lead for our clients in higher education. This is a lead-level SME focused on designing, modernizing, and supporting network infrastructure across LAN/WAN, wireless, and unified communications. You'll work closely with Network Architecture and play a key role in network refresh, switch upgrades, and hardware modernization initiatives, while mentoring and training team members.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the lead technical authority for enterprise networking (LAN/WAN, wireless, voice)
  • Design and implement scalable, secure solutions across Cisco and Juniper environments
  • Support and lead network refresh, switch upgrades, and hardware modernization efforts
  • Partner with Network Architecture to implement enterprise designs and standards
  • Act as escalation point for complex network and firewall issues (Palo Alto)
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and new team members
  • Lead or support large-scale infrastructure projects from planning through execution
  • Analyze performance and proactively improve network reliability and capacity
  • Collaborate with vendors to evaluate and implement solutions

Requirements

Do you have experience in Wireless networking?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree OR equivalent experience (year-for-year substitution)

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise network engineering, including hands-on work with Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto technologies
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and managing complex network environments
  • Experience leading large-scale network or infrastructure projects
  • CCNA (or equivalent certification)
  • Expert knowledge of LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewalls, and wireless
  • Strong understanding of DNS, DHCP, VPNs, VLANs, and network security principles
  • Experience with network capacity planning and performance optimization
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts clearly
  • CCNP, CCIE, or similar advanced certifications, * Bachelor's (Preferred), * Network administration: 10 years (Required)
