Job description

This is a full-time on-site role for an IT/ERP Systems Engineer located in Waco, TX. This position owns and supports an existing in-house ERP system used for core business operations. The role combines application development, database management, web-based components, and day-to-day system support responsibilities. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across software development, web technologies, and IT operations, and can maintain and enhance a business-critical system in a medium-sized organization., The company's ERP system is currently in transition from a legacy IBM i (RPG-based) platform to a modern Windows-based architecture. The new system is being built and expanded using C#, SQL Server, and Visual Studio, with web-based interfaces and components, along with cloud integrations that support internal business workflows and operations.

While portions of the legacy IBM i environment remain in place during the transition period, the strategic direction is toward a fully modernized Windows and web-based ERP platform. This role will support both ongoing modernization efforts and day-to-day operational continuity as systems are enhanced, integrated, and migrated., * Own the day-to-day support and enhancement of an in-house ERP system

  • Develop and implement application updates and new features using C#
  • Maintain and enhance SQL Server databases, including tables, indexing, and performance
  • Manage database file changes and additions related to system updates
  • Support Windows-based applications and services tied to the ERP system
  • Develop, maintain, and support web-based components (HTML-driven interfaces, internal tools, or reports)
  • Support integrations with cloud-based services and internal systems
  • Work with file servers, shared folders, and permission management
  • Assist with networking-related issues impacting application connectivity and access
  • Troubleshoot application, database, web, and system issues
  • Work directly with internal users to gather requirements and deliver solutions
  • Document application changes, database updates, and support procedures

Requirements

Experience working with legacy or long-established business applications is beneficial, particularly in environments undergoing phased modernization or platform migration., * C# and .NET application development

  • SQL Server and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
  • Database design, tables, indexing, and performance concepts
  • Microsoft Visual Studio development workflows
  • GitHub or similar version control systems
  • Windows-based application environments
  • Web development fundamentals, including:
  • HTML
  • Basic CSS for layout and formatting
  • Basic JavaScript for simple client-side behavior
  • Understanding of how web applications interact with backend systems
  • Networking fundamentals related to application connectivity

The Ideal Candidate Will Demonstrate the Following:

  • Comfortable owning and supporting a business-critical system
  • Able to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Deeper JavaScript experience or modern frameworks
  • REST API design and integration
  • Web security fundamentals (authentication, authorization)
  • Experience with internal dashboards, reporting tools, or web services
  • Broader cloud platform experience
  • Prior exposure to legacy or long-lived business applications
  • Enjoys working in an in-house, non-consulting environment
  • Capable of learning an existing application and business processes
  • Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical users
  • Pragmatic, reliable, and solution-oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highschool diploma required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Experience in the industrial or manufacturing sector is preferred
