Job description

Torch Technologies has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer, Senior located in Kettering, Ohio (Dayton/WPAFB area) to support our EPASS GB contract. As part of the AFLCMC/GB Business and Enterprise Systems Directorate (BES), the MRO Maintenance Financials (MMF) adds financial capabilities to the new MRO Logistics Transformation program. MMF becomes part of the existing Business Acquisition Category (BCAT) I or a high-value BCAT II MRO program but is independently funded from HQ AFMC/FM. MRO will provide Air Force Material Command (AFMC) and the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) with an integrated capability for planning, scheduling, and executing organic Depot Maintenance to support agile planning, optimized workload assignment and resource allocation, and integrated quality control. Maintenance Financials adds complementary financial capabilities that will become the foundation for the end-state vision of financial management activities as it relates to the Air Force Working Capital Fund (AFWCF). MRO Maintenance Financials requires support to develop, coordinate, staff, and execute the full range of acquisition documentation, and other artifacts and exhibits to meet statutory and regulatory requirements and mandates for BCAT compliance of Business Systems. The MMF RDT&E efforts are focused on modernizing and transforming the Air Force Depot capability and providing FIAR/FISCAM financial compliance.

As a Senior Software Engineer your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform work that applies a broad theoretical and practical knowledge of software engineering to include but not be limited to reviewing, preparing, and analyzing all types of documentation: Planning, requirements, design, V &V, support and test.
  • Source code, configuration files and engineering resolution support
  • Prepares, creates, reviews and analyzes all types of documentation for planning, requirements, design, coding, support and test.
  • Develops and applies advanced methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced software applications and problems.
  • Determining operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions;
  • Demonstrating solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, and code comments;
  • Determining and designing system specifications, and standards, and programming/coding and installing solutions;
  • Improving operations by conducting systems and process analysis plus recommending changes in policies and procedures;
  • Advising (licensed) software procurements by researching, analyzing, comparing, and documenting results of vendors and products, which may include installation, configuration and testing (of products);
  • Providing information and recommendations by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service related issues;
  • Accomplishing engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed;
  • Developing software solutions by studying requirements/user stories, user/system/data needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes, investigating problem areas, and following an Agile software development lifecycle
  • Evaluating software technologies such as containerization and the use of Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, configuration as code, micro services, standard application program interfaces (API), continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), and maximizing the automation of the software development lifecycle (SDLC); and/or,
  • Ensuring the rigorous application of information security/cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices to the delivery of application software services.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Advanced Degree (MA/MS) or Doctorate from an ABET accredited program in Computer Science, Information Technology or other Engineering Discipline and 10 years of experience, 5 of which must be in the DoW, OR
  • BA/BS Degree from an ABET accredited program in Computer Science, Information Technology or other Engineering Discipline and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoW, OR
  • 15 years of directly related experience with proper certifications, 8 of which must be in the DoW.
  • Possesses the advanced knowledge, experience and recognized ability to be considered an expert in their technical/professional field, possess the ability to perform tasks and oversee the efforts of junior and mid-level personnel within the technical/professional discipline
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of their technical/professional discipline as well as possess a comprehensive understanding and ability to apply associated standards, procedures and practices in their area of expertise. (Program Office, Enterprise and Staff Level Support interface)
  • Must have and maintain a T3/Secret level security clearance., * Knowledge and experience with Agile principles, methodologies, and enabling technologies, e.g., Kanban, Scrum, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitLab, CheckMarx, SonarQube, Zephyr.
  • Cloud platforms, e.g., AWS, Azure, OCI.
  • General cloud technologies, e.g., elasticity, scalability, IaC, IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, on-demand instantiation, containers, Kubernetes, serverless/Lambda
  • Any or all of the following certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Cloud Practitioner or MS Azure equivalent, Current certification in Oracle/OCI products and/or databases, CompTIA Security +CE, Agile Certifications
