Job description

Duties: Under the direct supervision of the Research Data Supervisor I, the incumbent provides research, data gathering, and statistical work in the areas of program and project management reporting, fiscal reporting, and resource balancing, utilizing structured and unstructured data from existing reports and resources. Incumbent will use proven techniques and methods in the researching process to propose solutions to support the Division of Engineering's (DOE) Program Control Section (PCS) in project tracking, document management, and procedures through analysis and working with subject matter experts (SME) within DOE, PCS, or others. Incumbent will research and develop dashboards, functional reports, and visuals in Power BI in order to assist DOE staff in decision making. Incumbent will perform technical research and statistical work involving various types of data. Incumbent will support DOE managers in maintaining data in the Portfolio and Project Management/Resource Management (PPM/RM) system. Incumbent will perform exploratory research, data manipulation, and data ingesting in various database software and platforms, including R, Python, and SQL Server Management Studio., The Department of Water Resources is committed to its mission and employees, and we are grounded in our commitment to public safety. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, able to work in a collaborative setting, has effective communication skills, and is willing to take on new and special assignments related to financial information and data., In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Foundational knowledge of financial concepts, terms, and experience working with a financial system. Experience in research and data analysis. Experience and expertise in developing reporting, dashboards, and visuals in Power BI. Ability to compile and communicate on research findings to various customers within the organization. Experience preparing various reports using narratives, tables, charts, and/or dashboards. Working knowledge of database tools and software, including Python, R, and/or SQL Server Management Studio.
