Sr. Staff Software Engineer

Coupang Global LLC. Seattle, WA. Sr Staff Software Engineer. Develop a team of talented engineers. Acquire a deep understanding of all aspects of the tech stack to drive eCommerce Engineering wide engineering practices. Apply Engineering and Operational Excellence. Work closely with a group of engineers in multiple geographic location to solve problems at scale. Analyze all aspects of the tech stack required to drive eCommerce engineering practices. Design, build, and operate large-scale, complete production systems. Influence and set technical direction. Work with application programming interfaces (APIs) and systems design. May telecommute 50% of the time.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (will accept foreign education equivalent) and 8 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation designing, building and operating large-scale, complex production systems. Position requires experience in the following: taking end-to-end ownership of technical projects focusing on technical design and architecture and has successfully delivered at least one initiative that positively impacts the organization; establishing principles and policies that impact the technical direction of the organization, including one or more of: code review practices, continuous deployment/integration practices, comprehensive testing guidelines across the stack, observability paradigms (logging, monitoring, or distributed tracing); improving the overall performance of backend systems and infrastructure achieving high availability with low latency; providing

mentorship to junior engineers in the organization and take active interest in their growth by identifying the right opportunities (cross-functional engagements, training sessions); designing a performant system taking into consideration the current needs and anticipating the future needs in terms of features and scale; designing and developing APIs from the ground up for distributed systems with a focus on fault tolerance, high performance and low latency handling large scale, which includes order of millions of transactions per second. $250,000/yr.
