Senior Staff Backend Engineer, Promise Systems

Lead and drive architecture design of Promise Engine systems for scale, consistency, low latency, future extensibility and reliability. Envision and drive alignment with stakeholders of appropriate roadmap and future technology direction for Promise Engine systems. Navigate and alleviate technical obstacles and blockers at organizational level. Decompose complex problems into simple, straightforward solutions, providing mechanisms for teams to prioritize and move with urgency. Participate in the architecture, development, testing, deployment and delivery of large-scale distributed global software applications, systems, platforms, services or technologies. Develop and operate large scale, low latency distributed backend services, web applications, large scale complex systems based on message processing and large-scale complex systems based on data change capture, aggregation and processing. Architect and design new and current systems, covering architecture, design patterns, availability, reliability, scalability and scalable storage solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and partner with product and program management teams to build complex, high-performance, highly available distributed software systems. Position requires domestic travel less than 10% of the time.

Requirements: Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus 10 years of experience building large scale backend distributed systems. Or, alternatively, a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus 8 years of experience building large scale backend distributed systems. Candidate must also possess: 5 years of experience leading projects, collaborating with product managers, and cross functional teams to define roadmap; 8 years of experience developing and operating low latency distributed backend services, web applications, and large scale complex systems based on message processing; 8 years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems; and experience building complex, high-performance, highly available distributed software systems successfully delivered to customers. Salary $286,270/year.
