Job description

Directs and coordinates activities of the Detail Design (and Drafting) department including product design, NDS's solids modeling and drafting standards, engineering design data management, and CAD proficiency.

Implement and maintain configuration management practices throughout the organization.

Conduct detailed department planning.

Review annual department operating expense budget and adhere to annual budget.

Ensure jobs are carried out to or above customer expectations and quality standards.

Cross train department employees to ensure continuity of operations and schedule achievement.

Ensure that NDS personnel are trained on Document Control procedures.

Ensure that processes and procedures are in compliance with industry standards.

Ensure that Documentation meets industry standards and contractual requirements.

Review procedures and documentation annually to assure effective and efficient applications.

Ensure all work activity is documented per company procedure.
-
Understand product structure, physical item hierarchies, and manage Product Baselines.

Coordinate work assignments for Detail Design (and Drafting).

Provide central contact point for Detail Design (and Drafting).
-
Assist in training Project Engineering and other distributed users of the NDS CAD system.
-
Provide labor estimates for new or re-draw of existing products.

Ensure that all drawings adhere to NDS standard operating procedures, ANSI/ASME (ASME Y14.100), and MIL standards (MIL-STD-31000).

Develop and maintain NDS CAD systems operating procedures.

Establish design requirements with Project, Manufacturing, and/or Quality Engineering

Work with Program Team to change/improve product design documentation for use by suppliers, in-house teams, and customers.

Develop SOPs and continuously improve processes for configuration management (based on CMII theory).

Provide primary PLM interface to cross functional leadership

Responsible for all aspects of Document Control.

Coordinates with the Contracts Department to assure that all customers' and sub-contractors' documentation conform to NTI contract requirements.

Maintains historical archives of NDS product data.

Plays instrumental role in quality system audits in order to sustain company certification.

Manage day-to-day PLM activities including planning and oversight of product data management tools

Provide primary PLM interface to cross functional leadership

Continuously improves Document Control procedures.
LEVEL OF DECISION MAKING
This position requires the ability to make daily autonomous decisions. High level decision making and leading and coaching a team on best practices are imperative to the role.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree (BS) shall be from a four-year college or university. MBA may be considered equivalent to a MS degree with respect to years of experience.
