Job description
We are seeking a sharp, mid-level Network Technician for a 6-month fixed-term contract to support our Network Architect and design teams. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running. You should be someone who doesn't just know what a packet is, but understands how packets/streams flow through complex infrastructure, lighting controls, and/or IoT ecosystems., * Network Configuration, Network Documentation, & Data Management
- Assist with maintaining accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including IP
addresses, MAC addresses, and device records in NetBox and other tools.
Support & Installation
- Provide hands-on assistance with patching, cabling, and smart hands support during
frequent on-site visits to the Orlando office or project sites.
- Help with physical network setup including rack-mounted equipment installation, with
attention to safety and proper handling.
Configuration & Learning
- Learn and assist in the configuration of Layer 2/3 switches, routers, and other network
hardware under the direction of the Network Architect.
- Gain practical experience with tools such as Putty, NetBox, Unimus, Netgear ProAV,
MikroTik RouterOS, and Proxmox.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to support project goals and network-related tasks.
- Support data entry and inventory tracking to ensure precise network asset records.
Requirements
We are looking for a professional who lives and breathes networking. To be successful in this role, the following must be second nature:
- The Fundamentals: You should already be familiar with OSI and TCP/IP models
- Routing & Switching: You are fluent in Subnetting, VLANs, and Static Routes. You can configure these with little support.
- Traffic Management: You possess an understanding of Unicast, Multicast, and Broadcast streams, including the specific use cases and pitfalls of each within a high-bandwidth AV environment., * Good understanding of networking concepts including IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs,
PoE, and structured cabling (Cat6 & Fiber).
- Familiarity with platforms like Unifi, Netgear ProAV, MikroTik, or similar networking hardware
is a plus.
- Certifications such as Network+, Sec+, or Cisco CCNA are desirable but not required.
- Strong willingness to learn and develop networking skills in a real-world, fast-paced
environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Hybrid Model: Primarily on-site work on-site presence in Orlando (or DC area) for installation, configuration and hardware commissioning. Remote work is available for the days on-site presence isn't needed. This can change week by week.
- Physical: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs (servers/switches) and be comfortable working on ladders or in equipment closets.
- Travel: Reliable personal transportation is required for travel to Orlando office, travel to out of state to project sites will be required.
