Job description

  1. Diagnoses problems encountered by computer users throughout the district.
  2. Performs set up, cabling, and hook-up functions as needed for any computer system in the district.
  3. Determines whether a problem needs outside help or can be fixed in-house.
  4. Oversees the troubleshooting and repair of computer equipment for the entire district.
  5. Oversees the troubleshooting and repair network/hardware problems for the entire district.
  6. Supervises the installation of all technology equipment in the District and sees to it that the equipment is maintained.
  7. Sets up computers and install programs as new computers are acquired.
  8. Creates and maintains user login identification (user id) information and login scripts.
  9. Maintains and handles all technological confidential information for employees of the district.
  10. Keeps track of hardware inventory and software licenses for compliance.
  11. Maintains records of computer service work.
  12. Oversees and completes preventive services work on computers and networks throughout the district.
  13. Maintains a supply of computer supplies and repair parts.
  14. Provides prompt courteous service to teachers and staff for any computer problem they may have.
  15. Keeps abreast of emerging operational support technologies and industry trends.
  16. Develops and implements plans for the acquisition and maintenance of hardware and software.
  17. Develops and implements a district procedure for the evaluation of software, hardware, and courseware, and for the sharing of the results of such evaluation.
  18. Disseminates technology-related information throughout the district via news bulletins, electronic mail, presentations at district and building level staff meetings, etc.
  19. Collaborates, writes, and reviews the district's technology plan as well as technology grants for the district.
  20. Maintains an inventory of technology resources.
  21. Strategic planning for district technology including equipment, supplies, and services.
  22. Responsible for the district website and listservs.
  23. Interviews and evaluates support staff that will help our teachers and students use District owned technology equipment.
  24. Communicates recommendations to the Superintendent concerning the purchase of all technology equipment for the District.
  25. Teaches Technology Classes for District personnel, students, parents and taxpayers as directed by the Superintendent.
  26. Ensures CIPA compliance and have a current ISBE approved Technology Plan with annual review and revisions.
  27. Directs the In-servicing Education of all District personnel on all technology equipment owned by the District.
  28. May be required to perform other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent, Principals, or the Board of Education.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in information systems or related field or extensive experience in similar position.
  2. Proven ability to oversee and integrate a heterogeneous IT ecosystem, ensuring seamless interoperability between Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.
  3. Experience in building, troubleshooting, and maintaining computers and computer-related equipment.
  4. Expertise in using DSL/Wireless/Satellite Internet connections.
  5. Ability to create and monitor a Technology Plan.
  6. Establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students, parents, and staff).
  7. Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
  8. Ability to communicate to students, parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.
  9. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  10. Requires employee to have the ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs.

Benefits & conditions

Salary range is $70,000 - $90,000, plus paid employee health insurance. District pays TRS benefits as well. Employee will receive 15 sick days, 2 personal days, and 10 vacation days.

Additional Notes

Contract length is 260 days/12 months. The start date of employment is negotiable.
