Job description

The BAE Systems IT Internship Program provides a broad and integrated understanding of enterprise level service delivery. The program consists of a 12-week hands-on experience with mentors and Service Leaders. There are multiple positions available to fulfill the following skillsets: software development, building reusable automation, system architecture, data engineering, software development, graphic user interface design, end to end user experience, and other project related work.

As an intern you will participate in our nationwide Internship & Co-Op Program, LEAP, where you will have the opportunity to Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. You will also have access to additional benefits such as, networking with BAE Systems employees and other students, participating in exciting real world projects, joining exclusive informational sessions with senior leaders, and expanding mentorship opportunities and career development.

This is an internship during the summer of 2026, and interns should expect the duration to be 12 weeks. Based on performance during the summer session, and with the discretion of the leadership team, there is a possibility of extending the internship to part time during the school year., * Identify actionable insights, suggest recommendations and help influence the direction of the business by communicating results to cross-functional groups

  • Suggest improvements in the tools and techniques to help scale the team
  • Experience working in an agile environment, with distributed teams
  • Help develop internal wiki for cross-training within SharePoint/Teams

Requirements

  • Major Degree Computer Science / Information Technology / Cybersecurity / Data Science / Information Systems
  • Experience in solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches (or equivalent)
  • Curious, self-driven, analytical and excited to play with data
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Student Status Rising Junior, Senior, Recent Graduate (within one year) or Graduate Student (Graduating May or Dec.), * Knowledge of security tools such as Splunk, ArcSight, Nessus Security Center, CrowdStrike, CyberArk, etc
  • Comfortable performing system administration on a shell/command line interface
  • Development experience in at least one scripting language (R, Python, Bash, Java, PowerShell, etc.)
  • Update and validate the Software install\support documents
  • Familiarity Software development lifecycle to: gather requirements, refine design, build, verify build and validate build
  • Familiarity with eDirectory, Identity Management Concepts, DevSecOps Environments, Linux OS, or Active Directory
  • Familiarity with one or more UNIX operating systems, such as RedHat
  • Experience with User Interface redesigning, wireframing, free hand mockups, and testing practices
  • Collaboration skills with UX Designer, Content Strategist, UX Writer, Product Owners, Data Analysts, and Developers
  • Machine Learning experience
  • Ability to multi-task and reprioritize work, as required, to meet dynamic customer service environment.
  • Excellent Customer service skills at all levels

  • Hybrid work environment with 3 days per week onsite at a BAE Systems site of Nashua, NH.

  • Compensation The internship is paid on an hourly basis., Full-Time Salary Range: $49592 - $68993

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20 hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
