Job description

The System Administrator Plans, develops, implements, monitors, and maintains the facility's Server Hardware and Software infrastructure. Assists with the training of staff in LAN/WAN/computer usage. Supports Hospital's mission to provide the highest quality care by complying with regulatory guidelines, meeting agency standards, and obtaining appropriate certification., * 1. Evaluates and/or recommends purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software.

    1. Installs, configures, and maintains personal computers, file servers, ethernet networks and other related equipment, devices, and systems.
    1. Systems administration (including backup, security management, user account management, e-mail systems including e-mail web server, internet access, office systems and applications support).
    1. Performs and/or oversees software and application development, installation, and upgrades.
    1. Investigates user problems, identifies their source, determines possible solutions, tests and implements solutions.
    1. Establishes and implements a preventive maintenance schedule for the facility's server environment.
    1. Performs minor repairs to the facility's LAN, WAN, PC's, and related equipment as necessary.
    1. Plans and implements network security, including applying cryptography to network applications, managing host security, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity, and adding and deleting users.
    1. Oversees the backup of the LAN and WAN on a daily basis.
    1. Coordinates the provision of outside services for major repairs to the LAN, WAN, PC's and related equipment as necessary or directed.
    1. Assists staff with software application problems.
    1. Troubleshoots systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
    1. Identifies utilization patterns and their effect on operation/system availability and performance expectations.
    1. Establishes and performs maintenance programs following company and vendor standards.
    1. Ensures timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.
    1. Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
    1. Documents system problems and resolutions for future reference.
    1. Maintains site licenses for department/organization.
    1. Investigates, recommends and installs enhancements and operating procedures that optimize system availability.
    1. Assists personnel of other departments as a computer resource.
    1. Manages small to medium sized projects according to agreed upon budgets and schedules.
    1. Develops, implements, and monitors documentation necessary to maintain the integrity of the facility's server environment.
    1. Implements security measures as directed by the CIO or Director of Information Services.
    1. Answers the Help Desk Lines during business hours and provides technical support to the user community while performing help desk assignment.
    1. Properly logs in to Help Desk tracking system all calls received while performing Help Desk assignment.
    1. Recognizes when an issue needs to be escalated to management for problem resolution or as a matter of established policy.
    1. Answers all telephone inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
    1. Works in conjunction with other staff members to plan, implement and maintain all IP Telephony systems within the organization.
    1. Monitors and archives all system log files for future reference and in accordance with Local, State and Federal guidelines.
    1. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelors Degree preferred, Computer Science major preferred.

Previous experience required:

5 years experience in PC/LAN/WAN.

5 years experience managing networks.

5 years experience server administration.
