Job description

As a member of the Business and Investment Production Support (BIPS) team, the associate engineer will play a crucial role in coordinating and maintaining the automated investment processes within the firm. This involves maintaining and monitoring the production environment and providing technical support for various processes such as database jobs, modelling tasks, reporting and analytics. The team member will collaborate with developers, researchers, and portfolio managers to implement new models and strategies, data source changes, adjust job scheduling and enhance production processes., * Control-M Scheduling: Establish and enforce standards within the Control-M scheduling software.

  • Model/Sim Integration: Deploy new models and simulators into the production environment.
  • Production Monitoring: Oversee the production environment, debugging real-time issues across various technology components and applications to resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Sprint Collaboration: Participate in weekly sprints to prioritize and assign case work, including schedule, data, and code changes.
  • Schedule Coordination: Work with developers to align schedule changes with code modifications.
  • Communication: Effective communication with the business and investment personnel regarding production timing, potential delays and task coordination.
  • Incident Management: Track and manage production incidents, coordinating with necessary teams, documenting updates and progress, whilst assisting with triaging.
  • Change Management: Adhere to change management protocols to review, test, and implement changes.
  • Release Management: Execute the weekly release process, transitioning code changes from staging to production.
  • Process Improvement: Recommend and lead the implementation of workflow enhancements.
  • Project Management: Work on case-based projects focused on production maintenance, process improvements, and addressing business needs.
  • On-Call Duties: Ability and willingness to perform on-call responsibilities on a weekly rotation, including nights and weekends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong technical/computer knowledge.
  • Experience operating in Unix or Linux environments.
  • Knowledge of SQL and/or Python programming.

Advantageous

  • Degree in computer science or related STEM field.
  • Experience in a production deadline environment.
  • Experience with scheduling tools such as Control-M.
  • Experience with source control tools and coordinating code changes.
  • Understanding of incident management frameworks and best practices.
  • Understanding of finance or investment principles.
  • Solid understanding of relational database concepts.
