We are partnering with a rapidly growing healthcare benefits administration organization specializing in customized plan design, claims adjudication solutions, and member support services. As they expand their national Plan Build operations, they are seeking a hands-on leader to oversee and guide a fully remote team. About the Role The Plan Build & Benefit Configuration Manager will lead a remote team responsible for designing, building, and configuring benefit plan adjudication rules. This working manager role combines team leadership (approximately 60%) with direct, hands-on plan build responsibilities (approximately 40%). The ideal candidate brings deep experience in benefit configuration, strong VBA proficiency, and a leadership approach focused on coaching, prioritization, and operational excellence. This position will serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership with a focus on driving accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across plan configuration workflows., * Lead the Plan Build & Benefit Configuration team, including remote plan builders and a plan build lead
- Oversee the design, build, implementation, and configuration of benefit plan adjudication rules
- Ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence within claims adjudication processes
- Participate in leadership meetings and act as a strategic advisor to senior leaders
- Report on key metrics, performance targets, and team output
- Provide hands-on plan build support during peak seasons (July and December)
- Manage team workloads, set priorities, and champion continuous process improvements
- Conduct weekly 1:1s, team meetings, and cross-functional collaboration sessions
- Coach, develop, and mentor team members while upholding high-quality standards
Requirements
Do you have experience in Team management?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * 5-10 years of experience in plan build, benefit configuration, and healthcare leadership
- 3+ years of business and operations experience within a health plan environment
- 2-3 years of Virtual Benefit Administrator (VBA) system experience (critical requirement)
- Working knowledge of revenue codes and medical terminology
- Experience with commercial health plan design
- 1-2 years of third-party administrator (TPA) experience
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and coach a remote team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong reporting, analytical, and problem?solving abilities
- Ability to delegate, prioritize, and adapt to changing circumstances
- Highly organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
- High school diploma or equivalent, * Associate or bachelor's degree
- Experience progressing through plan build roles
- Executive presence and confidence when presenting to leadership
- Background that combines technical VBA expertise with people management experience
