Job description

We are on the lookout for a seasoned Enterprise Architect to lead the end-to-end technology design and implementation for our China retail market expansion, encompassing both physical store operations and digital commerce platforms. This role is pivotal in shaping the architectural foundation that will power our China omnichannel ecosystem, ensuring scalability, performance, and full compliance with local data governance and technology regulations. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in the apparel retail domain, with prior success in establishing retail and e-commerce technology stacks in China, and possesses a clear understanding of local digital ecosystems, regulatory frameworks, and consumer behavior dynamics. Key Responsibilities

  • Architecture Strategy & Design.

Define and deliver the end-to-end enterprise architecture blueprint for China s retail and digital commerce operations. Design a localized yet globally aligned technology ecosystem spanning retail stores, e-commerce, logistics, CRM, ERP, and data platforms. Develop an architectural roadmap that supports future scalability, omnichannel experiences, and integration with global systems. * Retail & Store Technology Enablement. Architect and deploy store technology solutions, including POS, inventory management, order orchestration, payment systems, and customer engagement tools, which are approved for China. Ensure seamless integration between retail store operations and digital commerce, enabling unified inventory visibility and customer journeys. Evaluate and select China-compliant technologies and cloud platforms (e.g., Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud, Huawei Cloud). * E-Commerce Platform Localization. Lead the design and localization of web and mobile commerce platforms for the China market. Enable integrations with leading Chinese social commerce and marketplace platforms (WeChat, Douyin, Tmall, JD.com, Xiaohongshu). Partner with marketing and product teams to incorporate AI/ML-driven personalization, local payment ecosystems (Alipay, WeChat Pay), and native customer experience features. * Compliance, Governance & Risk. Ensure all architectures comply with China s cybersecurity, privacy, and cross-border data sharing laws. Define secure and compliant approaches for data residency, cloud deployment, and system interoperability. Serve as the technology governance leader for all China initiatives, advising executive and legal stakeholders on compliance implications. * Collaboration & Execution Leadership. Partner closely with Global IT, Digital, Data, and Supply Chain teams to align strategy, data flow, and infrastructure design. Manage vendors, system integrators, and technology partners in the region to ensure high-quality delivery and alignment to global standards. Requirements

10+ years in enterprise architecture and technology strategy, with 5+ years in e-commerce and retail systems. Proven experience establishing retail and e-commerce ecosystems in China, ideally within apparel or lifestyle retail. In-depth knowledge of China s data privacy, cybersecurity, and technology regulations, including data localization and ICP requirements. Strong understanding of ERP, PLM, POS, CRM, and supply chain systems, and how they enable end-to-end retail operations. Experience with China-native cloud environments (Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud, Huawei Cloud). Proficiency in Mandarin (preferred); fluency in English required. Exceptional stakeholder management, vendor leadership, and executive communication skills. Preferred Expertise Experience integrating global retail systems with China-local tech stacks. Deep familiarity with social commerce, digital payments, and consumer engagement platforms in China. Exposure to AI/ML personalization, data analytics, and digital experience optimization for e-commerce. Prior experience supporting retail market entry or expansion initiatives for global apparel brands.
