Application Developer I

Under the direction of the Director of IT for Enterprise Student Services and Integration, the Application Developer I designs and implements integration processes between various Rutgers systems and services using enterprise cloud-based services, including AWS, Heroku, Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. Additional tasks related to the ongoing documentation, maintenance, and improvement of supported web-based applications will also be performed.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Designs and implements data integration processes between various Rutgers systems and services using enterprise cloud-based services, including AWS, Heroku, Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
• Maintains and improves supported web-based applications and integration processes and communicate with vendor support teams, as necessary.
• Troubleshoots problems, works with staff to resolve problems; works closely with functional users to understand and resolve open issues.
• Participates in change management and release management activities. Identifies and reports risks, issues, and dependencies of assigned tasks/projects.
• Participates in test planning, performs unit, integration, performance, and user acceptance testing as needed, and applies performance optimizations., Working Hours Standard Hours 37.50 Daily Work Shift Work Arrangement Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 or the applicable provisions of relevant collective negotiations agreements, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. • Bachelor's degree in a related field required. Plus, a minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience required.

• Proficient in relational database management systems (such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MariaDB).
• Demonstrable knowledge of distributed systems architecture, messaging, and REST protocol.
• Good understanding of accessibility and implementation of accessible solutions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience with Django framework or other Python web development frameworks, preferred.
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as React, jQuery, Vue.js, and Node.js, preferred.
• Familiarity with AWS, Heroku, Oracle Integration Cloud, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, preferred.
