Maintains web environment by identifying system requirements, installing upgrades and monitoring system performance.Establishes web system specifications by analyzing access, information and security requirements and designing system infrastructure.Establishes web system by planning and executing the selection, installation and configuration; testing of server hardware, software, and operating and system management systems and defining system and operational policies and procedures.Maintains web system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis and performance tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software, and operating and system management systems; designing and running system load/stress testing and escalating application problems to vendor.Secures web system by developing system access, monitoring, control and evaluation; establishing and testing disaster recovery policies and procedures; completing back-ups; and maintaining documentation.Upgrades web system by conferring with vendors and services and developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements and new software.Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets and monitoring expenses.Updates job knowledge by tracking emerging internet technologies, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments., We are seeking a skilled and proactiveSystem Administratorto ensure the reliable operation, security, and continuous improvement of our organizations IT infrastructure.The ideal candidate will manage stand-alone air-gapped Windows 11, Ubuntu, and RHEL computers. Other tasks might include servers, networks, and critical systems across on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and DCSA compliance., System Maintenance & Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems (Windows, Linux), virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V), and network infrastructure.Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce security policies, manage firewalls, conduct vulnerability assessments, ensure data backup and disaster recovery protocols are in place, and maintain compliance with government and industry standards.Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues promptly; provide technical support to end-users and collaborate with IT teams to minimize downtime.Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate routine tasks, improve efficiency, and support monitoring and reporting.Documentation & Communication: Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and incident resolutions; communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.Experience in multiple OS platforms with emphasis on Linux (CentOS, Red Hat, Ubuntu), and Windows systemsExperience working in a research environment that relies extensively on Open Source solutionsIn-depth knowledge of the TCP / IP protocol suite, security architecture, securing and hardening Operating Systems, Networks, Databases and Applications.

Bachelors degree in Computer Science preferred, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).35 years of experience in system administration, with proven expertise in Windows and Linux environments.Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and network protocols.Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and backup solutions.Proficiency in scripting languages and automation tools.Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft MCSE, CompTIA Server+, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator) are highly desirable.
