Job description
An entertainment client based in Burbank is seeking a Sr. BI Developer to join an enabling technology team within the studios group. This role supports strategic dashboards and reporting for Studio Executives, Finance, Operations, Program/Project Managers, and Engineering leaders., * Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models
- Use Power Query, DAX, and MDX for complex reporting solutions
- Design and support Databricks-based ETL and data pipelines
- Author, diagnose, and optimize SQL Server & PostgreSQL objects
- Translate business requirements into technical BI solutions
- Build drill-through reports using relational data models
- Embed Power BI analytics using Power BI Service (SaaS) or APIs
- Perform data analysis, profiling, and quality validation
- Deliver testing plans and test data for BI solutions
- Support incident management related to BI platforms
- Review BI designs from peers and vendors for standards compliance
- Mentor junior BI analysts and conduct peer reviews
- Partner with architects and technical leads on new standards & tools
- Monitor BI systems lifecycle and technology obsolescence
- Design clean, executive-ready dashboards for leadership
Requirements
The ideal candidate excels at data modeling, visualization, and pipeline development, and thrives in an agile, fast-paced environment, delivering executive-level dashboards as well as detailed analytical reports., * 5+ years of Power BI experience
- 2+ years of Databricks experience
- Cursor or Claude proficiency - but experience with generative ai and a desire to use Cursor or Claude for development
- 3+ years using DAX, Power Query, and MDX
- Strong SQL and Python skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Creative, innovative thinker with high attention to detail
- Strong team player; able to work independently with minimal supervision Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Data Warehouse experience
- Programming experience with Python, SQL, and GoLang
- Experience with Tableau and/or MicroStrategy (important) Familiarity with Media & Entertainment data
